Bloom Myofunctional & Speech Therapy

Our Approach

Evidence-based treatment, personalized to every individual, with family involvement at the core.

Evidence-Based Practice

Every treatment plan we create is grounded in current research and clinical evidence. Laura stays up-to-date with the latest advances in speech-language pathology and orofacial myofunctional therapy, ensuring that our patients receive the most effective interventions available.

Specialized Treatment Approaches

Laura has invested extensively in specialized training, giving her a toolkit of advanced therapeutic approaches:

PROMPT Therapy

A motor-speech treatment approach that uses tactile (touch) cues on the face and jaw to guide correct speech movements. Especially effective for childhood apraxia of speech and other motor speech disorders.

Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing (DTTC)

A treatment approach focused on imitation, modeling, and systematically decreasing cues over time. Used alongside PROMPT for motor speech planning difficulties.

Nancy Kaufman Apraxia System

A systematic approach to treating childhood apraxia that simplifies word and phrase production, gradually building toward more complex speech.

Talk Tools Oral Placement Therapy

Uses specialized tools to train jaw, lip, and tongue movements for improved speech clarity and feeding function.

SOS (Sequential Oral Sensory) Feeding Approach

An evidence-based feeding therapy method that helps children learn to eat through systematic, playful steps — from tolerating food presence to tasting and eating.

Social Thinking Concepts

A framework for teaching social-cognitive skills that support language use in social contexts, particularly helpful for children on the autism spectrum.

Family-Centered Care

We believe that families are essential partners in the therapy process. Parents and caregivers are actively involved in sessions and equipped with strategies and activities to support progress at home. This collaborative approach leads to faster, more lasting results.

Individualized Treatment

No two patients are alike, and neither are our treatment plans. Every therapy program begins with a comprehensive evaluation and is tailored to the individual's unique strengths, challenges, goals, and learning style. We continuously monitor progress and adjust our approach as needed.

Integrative Expertise

Laura's dual certification as both a CCC-SLP and Qualified Orofacial Myologist enables a uniquely integrative approach. When speech challenges are connected to underlying oral muscle function — as they often are — we can address both simultaneously, rather than treating symptoms in isolation.
